Senior PostgreSQL Administrator (Remote / Hybrid, Moldova)

To strengthen our data-platform practice, we’re adding a senior PostgreSQL specialist who can keep mission-critical databases fast, secure, and highly available.
What you’ll work on:
- Coordinate, design, implement, and administer PostgreSQL solutions for enterprise clients.
- Tune and secure databases, automate backups, fail-over, replication, and point-in-time recovery.
- Build and maintain HA architectures (Patroni, repmgr, EDB PGD, etc.) across on-prem and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Develop normalized / dimensional data models, migrate data (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL → PostgreSQL) with ora2pg, DMS, CDC tools.
- Create IaC and automation for database provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Monitor performance with Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Datadog, or native cloud tools; investigate incidents and lead root-cause analysis.
- Mentor teammates, document best practices, and contribute to process improvements.
What we expect:
- Proven experience installing, upgrading, and administering PostgreSQL in large-scale production.
- Hands-on work with cloud and virtualized environments; strong in Linux administration.
- Solid scripting (Bash, Python) and familiarity with at least one compiled language (Go, C++, Java).
- Deep understanding of HA, replication, backup, and disaster-recovery strategies (Barman, pgBackRest, WAL archiving).
- Practical knowledge of containerized PostgreSQL (Kubernetes, Helm); exposure to cloud-native operators is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills; ability to manage 24/7 escalations when necessary.
- Nice to have: ITIL mindset, contributions to PostgreSQL community projects, experience with Debezium/Striim.
