Hackathon: Fighting Disinformation with Artificial Intelligence
During this hackathon, our team developed an innovative prototype aimed at combating disinformation, specifically designed to support journalists and individuals seeking to verify news articles. The project is a web-based application where users can input a link to a news article. Our system then analyzes the content and returns a verdict: factual information or potential fake news/spam.
To achieve this, we trained several Large Language Models (LLMs) using machine learning techniques. These models were fine-tuned to compare the content of submitted articles against a curated database of trusted, verified, and official sources, including governmental data. The final verdict is based on the alignment of the article's information with these credible references.
This project showcases the power of artificial intelligence in fighting manipulation and propaganda, offering a fast and reliable tool for fact-checking in today's information-driven world.
