HR-Consulting Srl on behalf of its client – an international NGO, is looking for a highly professional candidate to fulfill the position of:

Financial Controller

Position Type: Full-time
Work Mode: Remote or Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the NGO
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow plans
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting in line with donor, national, and internal requirements
  • Prepare financial reports for management, donors, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with the NGO standards, donor regulations, and internal financial policies
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and partners
  • Monitor project expenditures and ensure cost eligibility and proper documentation
  • Support grant financial management, including budget preparation and financial sections of proposals
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls and procedures
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Medium-level professional experience in finance or accounting (preferably 3–5 years)
  • Mandatory experience working in the NGO / non-profit sector
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial models, reports)
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with donor-funded projects is a strong asset

Language Requirements

  • English – fluent (mandatory)
  • Romanian – fluent (mandatory)
  • German – an advantage
